Amaryllis Bataille, sculptress of the “Big Blue” generation, is a graduate of l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts in France. She is named after the flower “Amaryllis”. Her nickname “AMA” translates from Japanese to “Woman of the Sea”.
The marine world with its mystery, mythology and reality is her main source of inspiration. From this background have come portraits in pastel, oils, marine jewelry, and bronzes which are her speciality. The bronzes begin as clay, progress to plaster and are finalized using the lost wax method. Historically the founder is considered to be the third hand of the sculptress.
Amaryllis has blended two passions ever since she was a child: sculpture and the sea.
