AMA LORELEY

Ama Loreley stands overlooking the Rhine from the Engelsburg, with the famous castle Pfalz, where Blücher crossed the Rhine with 75000 German, Polish and Russian soldiers on his way to Waterloo. The Loreley is a rock on the eastern bank of the Rhine near St. Goarshausen, rising 120 metres above the waterline. Loreley is also the name of a mermaid. According to legend, she sat on the rock singing and combing her long, golden hair. Her beautiful voice bewitched the passing sailors, causing their ships to wreck on the reefs below.
